Historical Society to host Parker Hastings concert July 3

Highland County Historical Society is hosting another musical event on Sunday, July 3 to celebrate the holiday. The Highland House Museum will be open from 1-4 p.m. The public is invited.
Parker Hastings of Richmond, Ky. has been recognized as 2015 Thumbpicker of the Year and inducted into the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame. At 15, he is the youngest musician to ever receive this award. His musical influences include Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Merle Travis, as well as others.

Hastings has recently released his first EP entitled “Whimsical Smiles.” Tommy Emmanuel is a guest soloist on Parker’s arrangement of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.”
Hastings is the son of Greg (Denise) Hastings, a graduate of Lynchburg-Clay, and the grandson of Don and Carolyn Hastings.
