Looking for unique gifts? Looking for a great cause to support? Looking for some fun? Look no further. Mark your calendars, shoppers... the Highland County Historical Society is having its second annual "Spirits of Christmas Pre-Sale" at the Highland House Museum, 151 East Main Street in Hillsboro.

The sale will be held Friday, Nov. 4 from 5-9 p.m.

Over 25 artists and artisans, along with local authors, antiques and items of Highland County interest, are represented in the museum's gift shop.

A $10 donation gets you in the door Friday to shop the night before the Highland House Holiday Gift Shop's grand opening to the general public on Saturday. Plus, the Friday evening event will offer shoppers wine, punch and hors d'oeuvres. Come and enjoy the spectacle of the holiday decorations throughout the museum while you shop, sip, snack and socialize.

Can't come Friday? The museum will host the official grand opening of the Holiday Gift Shop Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 6, the shop will be open 1-4 p.m. with Charlotte Pack on hand to sign her book "Time Travels.” The book consists of 200 years of Highland County histories and stories.

The Society is also bringing back the Children's Tea Party. The event will be held Sunday, Nov. 20 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Highland House. It is open to children ages 6-10 and their adult companions at $7.50 per child. This will be an elegant party, with tea, finger foods, entertainment and party favors. Space is limited, and the deadline for reservations is Nov. 14. Call the Highland House Museum at 393-3392 to place your reservations. Payment must be made with the reservation.

During the holiday season, the museum will be open Fridays from 1-5 p.m., along with Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m., through Dec. 18. Please stop by to bask in the splendor of a fully decorated 1844 gem of a house ... and do a little shopping while you're there.
