The Hillsboro High School class of 1960 celebrated their 55th reunion on Saturday, July 11 at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro.

Forty-two classmates and 17 spouses and guests enjoyed the festivities and reminisced about the “good old days” when they were students at HHS. Classmates from California, Connecticut, Florida, the Carolinas and other locales in Ohio and other surrounding states were in attendance.

The evening began with a social hour at 4 p.m., followed by a fabulous buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. prepared by the Ponderosa staff. For dessert, a special sheet cake featured pictures of both the original Hillsboro High School (as it appeared on West Main Street) and the new HHS building on US Route 62 just south of Hillsboro. The cake was made specifically for the reunion by Elaine Pointer, wife of classmate Jack Pointer.

John Rittenhouse, class president, opened the evening’s program with a heartfelt welcome to all attending. Recognition of classmates who served in the military and a reading of the list of those who have passed away since graduation was conducted. Minister Emerson Williams gave the invocation.

Reunion committee members were comprised of Larry Craft, Jane Stanforth Kelly, Eugene (Butch) Nartker, Howard Stanley, Tom Stephens, Leslie Ludwick Ramsey and John Rittenhouse. Any former classmate unable to attend the reunion this year is reminded to stay in touch via email to jrittenhouse@hughes.net or to phone Rittenhouse at (937) 393-4695 with your current address, telephone/cell number and your email address, if applicable.
