Hillsboro Boy Scout Troops 171, 226 complete conservation project at Pike Lake State Park

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Hillsboro Boy Scout Troops 171 and 226 completed a conservation project at Pike Lake State Park.

As part of the Eagle required Camping merit badge requirement, the scouts and adult leaders worked with the Park Naturalist, Matt Minter.

Mr. Minter put the scouts to work making fish habitats from old automotive tires. The tires are bolted together and provide a place for the fish to hide and explore in the lake.

The troop also completed a short hike and learned about the park's man-made bat cave.


[[In-content Ad]]The scouts that participated in the service project were Ryan Heizer, Brayden Grooms, Joel Griggs, Justin Conn, William Albert, and Dylan Coleman.

The adult leaders present were Jared Heizer, Dan Albert, and Jim Coleman.

The scouts had a lot of fun, and the troop appreciates Mr. Minter allowing the troop to help improve the park and serve the community.
