Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church to honor Chaplain Elliott Barrowclough
The Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church will honor former church member Chaplain Elliott H. Barrowclough (1st Lieutenant-Missouri Army National Guard) on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Services on Sept. 14 will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon following the morning service, and Barrowclough will speak during the Sunday evening service.
Barrowclough moved to Hillsboro at the age of 9 and began attending the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. He grew to become an active and vital part of the church. A 1999 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Barrowclough was a founding member of the Hillsboro High School FACT Club (a Christian youth group), which continued to meet for over a decade after his graduation.
In 1998, during his junior year, Barrowclough joined the Ohio Army National Guard 1-148th Infantry. He completed basic training in the summer of 1998 and finished infantry school the summer after his high school graduation.
Barrowclough attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. As there were no infantry units in Missouri, he transferred to the Missouri National Guard's 203rd Engineer Battalion.

While in college, Barrowclough met and married his wife, Gail. They are the proud parents of Faith, Justice, Serenity, Liberty, Hope and Valor.
In 2003, the 203rd Engineer Battalion was deployed to Iraq. The unit was active from March 2003 to July 2004. While in Iraq, Specialist Barrowclough served as a rough carpenter and an interim chaplain assistant.
In 2006, Barrowclough graduated from Baptist Bible College with a degree in youth ministry and enrolled in Baptist Bible Graduate School in order to pursue a seminary degree. During this time, Barrowclough served vocationally in local churches as a pastoral intern and as interim pastor.
In 2008, Barrowclough was deployed to Louisiana as part of a Missouri Army National Guard Ministry Team that was sent to help in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Gustav.
Barrowclough was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in July 2009 and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in January 2011. In 2011, he was deployed to Joplin, Mo. to assist in the aftermath of the tornado that devastated the town.
Barrowclough was ordained as a minister at Noble Hill Baptist Church in February 2012. He graduated with his master's degree in Biblical Studies and was endorsed as a chaplain by the Baptist Bible Fellowship International in May 2014.
