The Highland Humane Society continues its efforts to spay and neuter more cats through the Feline Fix It Fund, an initiative started in December 2022.

The program aims at providing financial assistance for spaying and neutering services to cats in Highland County. It is designed to support responsible pet ownership and help reduce the number of unwanted cats and kittens in our area.

The Feline Fix It Fund offers grants to eligible cat owners and those who are able to safely trap and transport community cats.

“We believe that every cat deserves a chance at a better life,” said Richelle Fair, Executive Director of the Highland Humane Society. “The Feline Fix It Fund is a crucial step toward addressing the issue of cat overpopulation and ensuring that our community’s cats receive the care they need.

“By making these essential services more accessible, we aim to prevent overpopulation, enhance animal welfare and ensure that every cat has the opportunity for a healthy, happy life.”

Anyone in Highland County can utilize the program to spay or neuter a stray cat for just $30. If a community member is on public assistance, this lowers to $10 per cat. Additional options are available for owned cats housed as pets.
