Highland House Museum to host holiday open house Nov. 1-2

The Highland County Historical Society will host an open house Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2 from 1-4 p.m. at the Highland House Museum.

This year's gift shop features more than 20 vendors of woodcrafts, jewelry, home decor, Christmas decorations, ceramics and photography, as well as homemade jams and jellies, peanut brittle and pumpkin rolls.

The museum's two signature scented candles are being sold in the gift shop, along with beautiful antiques from the Chaney estate.

Books of local interest and/or by local authors are also for sale.

The museum will also be debuting holiday exhibits, including 14 decorated trees and a 100-piece Santa Claus exhibit on loan from Mary Kier. This exhibit will run from Nov. 1 through Dec. 21, with extended hours Thanksgiving weekend.
