Highland County Shooting Sports member competes at nationals

Owen Ryan, a member of the Highland County Shooting Sports 4-H Club, recently competed on the Ohio National 4-H Shooting Sports team.

The national competition was held June 24-29 in Grand Island, Neb. and was hosted by Nebraska 4-H.

Competitors must have a 4-H age between 14-18 years old and can only compete one time on a national team per discipline. Youth from across the nation compete in events for recurve archery, compound archery, air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, shotgun, muzzleloading, and hunting skills.

Owen successfully broke the Ohio records in recurve archery field events, both as an individual and as a member of the Ohio recurve team.
