Highland County natives and best friends Gary Adams and Johnny Deans attended country legend George Jones' funeral May 2.

Adams toured with many country music greats, including Johnny Paycheck, Ray Price and Marty Robbins, as well as the king of country, George Jones.

"His brothers and he have done so much, it would take a hundred newspapers to even begin to tell of all they've done," Deans said.

Adams sang harmony on many of Jones' songs, including the hit "The Race Is On."

The Adams brothers, Gary, Arnie and Donnie, have performed and toured with many country music legends in addition to writing a number of country songs for them.

When asked about Jones, Gary Adams replied, "Nobody is gonna fill his shoes," a reference to Jones' hit "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?"

Jones wrote about Adams in his bestselling autobiography, "I Lived To Tell It All."

"There's those of us who think we can sing or play music or write, and there's the country legends, the Jones boys," Deans, who had a singing contract in the early 1990s, said. "They are forever known as the Adams boys to those of us who have followed them and love them."
