Highland County Historical Society board member and Hillsboro City Council member Justin Harsha is shown ringing in the New Year outside the Highland House Museum at 11:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Justin was selected to ring the bell in honor and memory of his dad, former Hillsboro Mayor Sandy Harsha, and in honor of former HCHS board member Lester Wallis, husband of historian Jean Wallis.

"It brought a tear to my eye – yet a smile – as I watched my nephew, Justin Harsha, ring the bell at the Highland County Historical Society, bringing in 2016 and celebrating their 50th anniversary," Susie (Harsha) Wagoner told The Highland County Press.

"For three generations, my family has actively been involved with the Society. They, along with so many others, have passionately worked to create a tribute to the history of our county.

"My most heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you! Charlie and Sandy would be so very proud!"
