Highland County Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce celebrate season-opening of Highland House

On Friday, May 3, the Highland County Historical Society celebrated the opening of the Highland House Museum for the 2019 season with a ribbon-cutting.
The Highland House will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m.

Director Vicki Knauff performed the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and gave a brief tour of the music room and meeting room/gift shop. The most recent additions to the music room include a Hillsboro High School band uniform and a portrait of the Huggins children painted by Emma Detwiler.
Knauff pointed out one of the newest displays in the back, "Pioneer Hallway,” containing Native American arrowheads and a map of towns. The always-popular C.S. Bell display was highlighted at the end of the tour.
As a reminder, tickets are now on sale for the Highland County Historical Society's Tour of Homes, which will take place June 23 from noon-5 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children.
