The Highland Amateur Radio Association will host America Radio Relay League Great Lakes Director Dr. Jim Weaver as a guest speaker at its April meeting, according to association president Roger Gladdish. The meeting will be held in the basement conference room at the Highland County Administration Building in Hillsboro on Tuesday evening, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.
The American Radio Relay League is the national organization that represents the interests of the approximately 700,000 licensed amateur radio operators before the Federal Communications Commission, Congress, and the various international communication regulatory bodies. The Highland Amateur Radio Association is an affiliated ARRL
club that serves the technical and social interests of the 150-plus licensed hams in Highland County and the surrounding area.
Dr. Weaver will discuss the present state of amateur radio, threats to amateur assigned frequencies and growth in the hobby. He will also discuss happenings within the American Radio Relay League and the benefits of membership. A question-and-answer session will follow his presentation.
All area "hams" and others interested in radio communications are invited to attend what promises to be an informative evening.
