Greenfield second-graders visit Greenfield Historical Society

Second-graders in the Greenfield Exempted Village Schools recently visited the Historical Society of Greenfield for a look at “Transportation Through the Ages.”

They learned about the society’s Conestoga wagon, Ahrens-Fox fire truck and Patterson buggies.

They also visited the military and railroad displays in the society’s DT&I Depot and displays in the Grain and Hay Building.

In addition to the historical society’s holdings, members of the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire Department were on hand to demonstrate an ambulance and fire truck and the Greenfield Police Department sent Patrolman James Leeth with a cruiser along with Sando, the police dog.

Another highlight was the vintage cars brought by the Dragin Angels Antique Car Club.

The society wishes to thank the Dragin Angels, the Greenfield Police Department and the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire Department for helping to make the event a success.

The teachers and students had a good time and learned about various forms of transportation.
