Greenfield Historical Society annual Spring Tea April 14

The Greenfield Historical Society’s Spring Tea will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14 in the Konneker Education Center at 245 South St. Greenfield.

Hosting this year’'s tea will be Mrs. James Murray Jr. of the Murray Funeral Home.

Addie Ballard Murray came from an old Quaker family and lived all her life in this area and is still remembered by some old timers here in Greenfield. And of course Murray-Fettro Funeral Home still exists today.

The Murray Funeral Home has been a Greenfield business since 1852 when James M. Murray opened an undertaker's business at the southeast corner of Jefferson and Fourth Street. His son, James Murray, took over the business after the death of James Sr.

Mrs. Murray will be presented by Roxanne Judkins. Roxanne has been a part of our Ghost Walks for the last few years and has done an exceptional job. She will welcome guests to the tea, tell her story and answer questions after the presentation.

On display, will be a photos of the Murray Funeral Home. The society is also excited to share a new education display in the Konneker Education Museum. Members have been busy finding and displaying lots of photos and artifacts concerning education in the schools of Greenfield and the surrounding area.

Refreshments will include finger foods, tea and coffee.

Presale tickets are on sale for $10 at the Home Building & Loan in Greenfield. Tickets may be purchased at the door but seating is limited.
