The Highland County Dog Pound has the following dogs available for adoption or rescue pulls as of July 7, listed courtesy of the Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound.

(1) Stella: Stella is a 3–4 year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She weighs around 20 lbs. She is not spayed as she is currently in heat. Stella is great with kids and other dogs. She is crate trained and mostly house trained.

(2) Lexi: Lexi is a Shepherd/Doberman mix who is 7 years old. She weighs around 50 lbs. She has been around cats and kids and other dogs. She was an owner surrender due to her owner having to move.

(3) Casper: Casper is a male shepherd mix who came in as a stray. Casper had been staying in the same spot on the side of a busy roadway for two days due to not wanting to leave his friend who didn’t make it. Casper was so happy to see us. He is pretty skinny for his size, weighing only 43 lbs. He is very young, between 1-2.

(4) Nova: Nova is your typical husky. She weighs 33 Ibs. so she is on the smaller side but is also pretty skinny and could easily reach 45-50 Ibs at full weight. Her teeth say 3-4 years old, but she acts very young. She is very playful and seems OK with other dogs.

Bones, Diesel

 (5) Bones: Bones came to us after his owner passed away. A woman who cared for the owner said that Bones was a stray that had showed up. He got his name because he was exactly that, skin and BONES. Bones is a young, loving mixed breed.

(6) Diesel: Diesel is a time urgent NEUTERED male mixed breed who came to us as a stray. He is very friendly and loves to play and get loved on. He has done well with other dogs at the pound. Diesel has been with a foster for a few months, and she reports he has been very good with her dogs and cats. He is short and stocky, weighing around 50 lbs. He falls in love with anyone he meets, dogs or people. Intake date: 4/29/24.

Flopsy

(7) Flopsy: Flopsy is a beautiful pit girl who is 2-3 years old and weighs 55 lbs. Flopsy got her name because when you go to pet her, she flops on the ground wanting all the belly rubs you will give her. She loves people and has a very loving personality. This sweet girl has never shown any type of aggression, and she seems to be OK with other dogs. Intake date: 3/8/24.

Sky, Ranger, Brett

(13) Sky: Sky is a female mixed breed who weighs around 50 lbs. We believe she is around 3 years old, and she is good with other dogs.

(14) Ranger: Ranger is a Walker Coonhound who is around 6 years old. He weighs 47 lbs. He seems to be OK with other dogs. Seems to have been trained for hunting. He has a beautiful picture perfect stance.

(15) Brett: Brett is a Lab Mix who is around 3 years old. He weighs 67 lbs. He is a very good boy, and he seems to get along with other dogs. He knows how to sit but is very treat motivated, so any other training should come fairly easy. Brett is also a pro at playing fetch.
