The Highland County Dog Pound has the following dogs available for adoption or rescue pulls as of April 8, listed courtesy of the Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound.
Transport date is April 9.
(1) Echo: Echo is an 8-9 month old pup weighing in at 29 lbs, and she’s the perfect mix of sweet and playful. This beautiful girl has a gentle, loving personality and a fun, puppy energy that will keep you smiling every day. Echo loves attention and is always ready for playtime — whether it’s chasing toys or soaking up affection from her people. She’s still young, so she’ll thrive in a home ready to continue her training and help her grow into a well-rounded, confident companion. Echo is also good with other dogs ,so a doggy companion in the home would be good for her.
(2) Mocha: Mocha is a beautiful Husky with a heart as big as her energy. This sweet girl is incredibly friendly, loving and always ready to play. Whether she’s romping around outside, making new dog friends, or soaking up attention from her people, Mocha brings joy wherever she goes. She is already spayed and up to date on all her vaccines, so she’s ready to head straight into her forever home. Mocha seems to do well with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a playful companion—or she’d be just as happy being your one-and-only adventure buddy. Like most Huskies, Mocha would thrive with an active family who can keep up with her fun-loving spirit and give her plenty of exercise and attention. In return, she’ll give you endless love, loyalty and a whole lot of smiles. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate companion to brighten your days, Mocha might just be your perfect match.
(3) Eve: Eve is a boxer mix who loves with her whole heart. She’s a 4-year-old sweetheart who is playful, joyful and happiest when she’s with her people. With an active family and older kids, Eve would truly shine. Give Eve the home she’s been waiting for—and she’ll fill it with love.
(4) Redgy: Redgy is a 2-year-old, 60 Ib. pit bull with a big heart and a gentle spirit. He’s great with kids, dogs and even cats, making him the perfect addition to a family looking for a friendly, adaptable pup. He may get the occasional zoomies, but mostly he’s all about cuddles, walks and love. Give Redgy his forever home, and he’ll give you endless affection in return.
(5) Sadie: This beautiful girl is Sadie, an 8-year-old Lab / Boxer mix with a heart as big as her smile. Sadie is spayed, incredibly sweet, and truly friendly with everyone she meets—people and other dogs included. Sadie loves companionship, gentle affection and being near her people. She’s the kind of dog who will happily be your shadow and soak up all the love you’re willing to give. While she’s great with dogs, she’d do best in a cat-free home, as kitties just aren’t her thing. If you’re looking for a calm, loyal, and affectionate companion, Sadie is ready to spend her golden years being your best friend. Comment from the dog warden: We took Sadie to an adoption event this weekend. Her best friend was adopted, which left her alone. Sadie is nothing short of the best dog you will find. She is personally my favorite.
(6) Bella: Bella is a 5-year-old beagle weighing in at around 25 lbs, and she’s as sweet as they come. This gentle girl was surrendered to us after her previous owner suspected she may be pregnant, and now she’s looking for a safe, loving place to land. If she is pregnant, this would be her fifth litter of puppies. Bella quickly became a fan favorite—especially with the school kids who visited our shelter. Her calm, friendly nature makes her easy to love, and she soaks up attention like a pro. She gets along well with other dogs and does great with children, making her a wonderful fit for a family home. If you’re looking for a kind-hearted companion with a gentle soul, Bella might be your perfect match.
(7) Cupid: This handsome guy is Cupid, and yes — he lives up to his name. He’s a sweet, playful 5-6 year old pit mix who loves spending time with people and soaking up attention. Cupid doesn’t ask for much … just love, companionship, and a chance. Adopt Cupid and let him love you back tenfold.
(8) Boss: Boss is a 3-year-old mixed-breed hound with a heart of gold and the sweetest personality. He’s neutered, affectionate and loves attention—especially from people who are ready to spend time with him. Boss does have some energy and would thrive with an active owner who enjoys walks, playtime, and keeping him engaged. True to his hound roots, he’s curious, fun-loving, and always ready for his next adventure. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will happily join you on an active lifestyle, Boss is ready to find his forever home and be your new best friend.
(9) Chet: Say hello to Chet, our 1–2 year old Lab / Cane Corso mix—but don’t let the mix fool you, because the Cane Corso doesn’t show at all. He looks and acts like a pure Lab puppy through and through. He is sweet, affectionate, and goofy and has big puppy energy with a heart of gold. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will keep you smiling year-round, Chet is your guy.
(10) Jasper: Jasper is a 3-4 year old lab/pit mix with a heart full of love. Jasper is sweet, playful and happiest when he’s spending time with people. He’s ready for his forever home—one with toys, love, and a family to call his own. Could Jasper be your missing piece?
(11) Darla: Darla is a 2-year-old mixed breed with a gentle heart and a playful spirit. Weighing around 30 pounds, she’s the perfect smaller size for just about any home. When Darla first came to us, she was very shy and unsure of the world around her. But with a little patience and kindness, her true personality has started to shine. Now she’s blossomed into one of the sweetest girls you could meet. Once she trusts you, she loves attention and enjoys being part of the fun. Darla has a playful side and seems to be OK with other dogs. She’s looking for a patient, loving home that will continue helping her grow into the happy, confident dog she’s becoming. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion with a heart of gold, Darla might just be the perfect match.
(12) Snickers: Snickers is a sweet, lovable boy who’s ready to find his forever home. This handsome guy has a gentle personality and a heart full of love. Whether he’s soaking up attention or just hanging out by your side, Snickers is happiest when he’s with his people. He is around 2 years old and weighs 57 Ibs. Snickers is good with other dogs. If you’re looking for a kind, affectionate companion to add to your family, Snickers might be your perfect match. Come meet him and see just how sweet he really is.
(13) Jade: Jade is a beautiful 7-year-old husky weighing around 55 lbs, and she’s just as sweet as she is stunning. This happy girl loves being outside, soaking up the sunshine, and flashing that big, joyful smile. Jade is spayed and UTD on all vaccines. She’s friendly, affectionate and has that classic playful husky spirit. Jade would thrive in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise, adventures, and attention. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or just hanging out in the yard, she’s always ready to be your sidekick. Jade is friendly with dogs and children but like many huskies, Jade has a strong prey drive, so she will need a home without cats.
(14) Mrs. Piggy: Mrs. Piggy is a 5-year-old, 50 lb. sweetheart with a gentle soul and a soft, happy smile. She may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but give her a little time (and maybe a few treats), and her affectionate, loving personality starts to shine through. She’s spayed and fully vaccinated; however, her vaccine records show that at one time she tested positive for Lyme Disease. She appears to be potty trained. Mrs. Piggy already knows “sit” and “shake,” and she’s very treat motivated—which makes her a great candidate for continued training and bonding with her future family. She also loves toys, especially balls. She is great with bath time giving no trouble at all. Mrs. Piggy does well with other dogs, so a doggy friend in the home would be fine with her. Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys being close to her people and will happily soak up attention. She would do best in a home that can be patient with her at first and give her the time she needs to build confidence and trust. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with love and devotion, Mrs. Piggy could be the perfect fit.
(15) Lieutenant Liberty: Lieutenant Liberty is a 1–2 year old female Beagle weighing in at a petite 18 lbs of pure sweetness. This little lady is as friendly as they come and loves making new friends—both human and canine. She does great with other dogs and would be a wonderful addition to a home with a furry companion or as your one-and-only best friend. With her gentle nature and loving personality, Lieutenant Liberty is always ready for cuddles, tail wags, and a lifetime of loyalty. Whether she’s exploring the yard or snuggled up beside you, she’s sure to steal your heart in no time. If you’re looking for a sweet, social, and loving companion, Lieutenant Liberty is ready to report for duty in her forever home.
(16) Penny: Penny is a 4-year-old sweetheart with a calm, loving personality that makes her an easy dog to fall in love with. Penny weighs 46 Ibs. She’s laid-back and enjoys the simple things in life—whether that’s relaxing by your side or soaking up some sunshine outside. Penny gets along well with other dogs, making her a great addition to a home with existing pups. She has a gentle nature and would do well in a home looking for a loyal, easygoing companion. She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations, so she’s more than ready to head home with her forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, relaxed, and loving best friend, Penny might be the perfect match for you.
