Frances Strickland to be guest speaker at Aug. 2 Democratic Party picnic

The Highland County Democratic Party will hold its annual picnic Sunday, Aug. 2 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Am-Vets Park, 11541 North Shore Drive, Hillsboro.

Frances Strickland will be the featured speaker for the event. She is the wife of U.S. Senate candidate and former governor and congressman Ted Strickland. She is a former First Lady of Ohio.

The party also plans to feature mayoral candidate for the city of Hillsboro, Pamela Limes, just-announced candidates for mayor Freddie Snyder (Leesburg) and Bonnie Parr (Mowrystown), and any other mayoral candidates who announce their candidacy.

Candidates running for township trustees and fiscal officer will also be recognized.

The menu will include Ponderosa chicken wings, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and drinks. A freewill donation will be accepted at the door.

Frank Grover will again entertain attendees with a lively auction. Door prizes will be awarded to end the evening.

The Highland County Democratic Party invites the public to join them for an entertaining and informative afternoon.
