Flannery, Sheeley families host youth event with FFA in Marshall

On May 9, the Hillsboro FFA held an event for the Hillsboro kindergarteners, which was hosted by the Flannery and Sheeley residents in Marshall.

Approximately 60 FFA members took time out of their school day to help with the event, which held roughly 200 kindergarteners.

The purpose of this event is to educate the children about the importance of agriculture and allow them to experience a few things that are done on the farm.

Each Kindergarten class was rotated among each given station for the event. Some of the stations included planting, which gave the kids an opportunity to learn about gardening, dairy, which taught the kids how to make ice cream from scratch, the petting zoo, which allowed them to be educated about animal terminology, and many more stations that permitted the children to gain knowledge about agriculture, and have fun while doing it.

This event has become a tradition that all FFA members look forward to at the end of each school year. The kindergarteners over the years have mentioned how much fun they have and the chapter hopes to continue this education event for many years to come.
