First Baptist Church provides over 200 dinners on Christmas Day

Mystic Storm Sisterhood and the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro delivered or had picked up over 200 meals on Christmas Day for the third annual “A Feast for a King” event.

Pizza Hut, Twenty­-Four Exchange, Giovanni’s Pizza and Big Ernie’s Pizza donated food warming bags to allow the church to deliver all those meals.

Community Markets cooked two of the hams, and Walmart donated $250. Kroger also helped out at Thanksgiving, donating 24 boxes of stuffing.

Volunteers included head cook Carol Hennes; John Weber, who deep-fried over 10 turkeys; master carvers Dean Armstrong and Lynn Sonner; and many other friends from the First Baptist Church.

If anyone who had dinner delivered had pets who also needed food, the church delivered dog and pet food as well.

It was a rainy, messy day, but that didn’t dampen any spirits. We were able to serve and deliver meals to the Hillsboro community and beyond.

This is our third year of trying to reach the community of Hillsboro on this special day, and we thank everyone for their help, donations of food, time and energy. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
