FFA members show goats at the Highland County Fair

The Highland County Fair took place the week of Sept. 5-12.

On Monday, Sept. 7, Jacob Heltebrand, Jackie Marietta, Heather Burba, Hillary Hamilton, Whitney Seitz, Joe Heltebrand, and Madi St. Clair exhibited Boer Market Goats.

Christian McConehea exhibited Dairy Market goats and Shelby Hale exhibited a Breeding Goat.

The day started at 8:30 a.m. with showmanship. All members participated in Showmanship.

Jacob Heltebrand was the overall showmanship winner. Jacob had the opportunity to participate in showman of showman on Friday and placed fifth overall.

Madi St. Clair was reserve in the senior division. Joe Heltebrand won his showmanship class in the intermediate division.

After showmanship, was the breeding show and Dairy Market show. Shelby Hale exhibited a breeding doe in the breeding show. McConehea exhibited his dairy goat. The day ended with the county bred and born show which was new this year. The show had around 50 dairy and boer market goat participants. The sale was Wednesday night. This is where exhibitors can sell their goats for around or above market price.
