Farm-to-Fork raises funds to combat local hunger

While the first ever Farm To Fork dinner hosted by the Highland County Farm Bureau held in August was geared to highlight locally grown food, it also had a twist to help fight local hunger by all the proceeds from the event going to local food pantries in the county.

The event was hosted by Tim and Karen Sheeley and was a big success with more than 80 area residents in attendance.

A total of $1,500 was generated from the proceeds of the dinner to go towards fighting local hunger. The funds provided various canned goods and an additional gift card for each organization to use for supplies as they needed.

The donations were recently distributed to the Rainsboro United Methodist Church Food Pantry, The Friendly Village Community Center in Leesburg and Because He Lives Food Pantry in Lynchburg. The Highland County Farm Bureau would like to thank everyone who helped to make this donation possible.
