Donna Sizemore-Haynes named Highland County Senior Citizens Center's Outstanding Senior

Donna Sizemore-Haynes was selected, by membership vote, as the Highland County Senior Citizens Center’s 2014 Outstanding Senior.
Senior Center Director Mechell Frost and former 2013 Outstanding Senior Jeannette Knauff presented the award to Donna at the WSRW’s Senior Expo event that took place at the senior center on Tuesday, May 13.
Voting was open to members for four weeks prior to the event.
Every year since 2012, senior center membership selects an ‘Outstanding Senior’ in the month of May, which is Older American’s Month.
Donna and her husband, Ray Haynes, have been members of the senior center since 2004.
“Donna cares about the center and the people around her. Her positive energy has had a great impact on the center. She is innovative, dedicated and a kindhearted person who I admire and appreciate," said Mechell Frost.
"Donna is very involved with our and for our senior center. She has created and instructs a nutritional program, which meets weekly at the center. She serves on the center’s Food and Membership Committees and assists at banquets the center holds, all for which she volunteers her time for. She always greets new members and/or the community who are looking for a friendly face to help introduce them to our members and our activities and always helps promote the senior center. She is part of our Hee Haw Gang, leads food drives, and is the Queen Mum and an Ambassador for the local chapter of the Red Hat Society: The Tea Time Tootsies."
