The Lions are the largest service organization in the world, and the Lynchburg club has been involved in many community projects. Newland commended the club for its service.

Newland’s wife, Lion Jay Newland, was also in attendance. She currently serves as the Zone Three Chairperson, and she, like her husband, has been very active in the Lions organization over the years.
