In-Demand Jobs Week event planned at OhioMeansJobs Career Center

By
OhioMeansJobs Pike County

In-Demand Jobs Week is the statewide celebration of the jobs, industries and skills that are in-demand in Ohio. Community leaders statewide are encouraged to partner in planning engaging events and activities that will inspire excitement and awareness among students and job seekers.

This year, In-Demand Jobs Week will highlight Ohio’s top jobs that stem from career tech center educations and the different paths Ohioans can take to land a successful career.

The Workforce & Business Development Program (W&B) and OhioMeansJobs Pike County (OMJ) at the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) will be hosting In-Demand Job Day on Friday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the OhioMeansJobs Career Center (941 Market Street in Piketon).

To support the job seekers in the area with trade skills, staff members will be available to share information about the in-demand jobs from local businesses. Jobs seekers are welcome to utilize the Career Center for updating résumés and applying for available jobs online. Information will be available for all of the services that the Workforce & Business Development Program offer.

In addition to applying for available jobs, the In-Demand Jobs Event will highlight many of the opportunities available through the OhioMeansJobs Pike County Career Center:

• Career Technical Education – provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners.

• Pre-Apprenticeships - teaches entry-level technical and job-readiness skills for an apprentice occupation to prepare students for a formal Registered Apprenticeship training program upon graduation.

• College Credit Plus - helps individuals earn college and high school credits simultaneously by taking college courses from local colleges or universities while in high school.

• Supportive Services – provides services for the needs that individuals may experience while continuing their education, such as transportation, child care, housing and more (eligibility requirements apply).

Job seekers are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about the opportunities and services available in Pike and surrounding counties.
