Cutting Crew under new ownership

The Cutting Crew in Hillsboro is celebrating a number of changes, as the hair salon is under new ownership and features some new faces as part of recent updates to the business.

Local hairstylist Andrea Geddes has purchased the salon from longtime owner Beverly Durst and assumed her new role as owner and operator of The Cutting Crew on Sept. 1.

Geddes said that owning the salon is a "lifelong dream come true."

Durst had been looking to sell her salon to take a less active role and switch to part-time work, and Geddes said she has known Durst "practically my entire life" and was a former employee of the Cutting Crew. She decided to purchase the salon and continue her friend's 22 years of service to the community.

The Cutting Crew is also now featuring two familiar faces from another salon, as longtime Eloquence Salon & Spa owner Angela Totton and former Eloquence stylist Shannon Hart Valdez have also joined the staff. Totton sent out an announcement to Eloquence customers and encourages them to visit her and Valdez at their new location.

Geddes had also worked at Eloquence prior to purchasing The Cutting Crew. Totton, who owned and operated Eloquence for 10 years, was looking to close her salon, which is currently listed for sale. As Geddes had several openings at her salon, the timing was perfect for Totton and Valdez to switch to The Cutting Crew, after Eloquence officially closed on Oct. 17.

With two former salon owners, along with their current owner, The Cutting Crew's new staff combines over 70 years of experience in the beauty field, including full-time hair and nail technicians.

In addition to salon services, boutique items are currently on sale for 50-percent off. The Cutting Crew also carries Matrix hair products and will be adding Kenra and Redken products.

The Cutting Crew is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily; Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; and Mondays by request. The salon is located at 317 East Main Street, Hillsboro.
