Craig Allen to perform benefit concert in Hillsboro

Craig Allen, a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tenn., has fallen for the hills of Highland County. As though it was pulled right out of a country song, this story starts with a girl.
In August of 2015, Allen met a local gal, and she traveled to Nashville to celebrate her birthday with him. She led him to Hillsboro, where he would start a journey very different than anything he ever would have imagined.
Allen never saw himself investing so much of himself in a rural city in Ohio, but that is precisely what he intends to do. He is now looking to buy property and build a business based around good wholesome fun, food and entertainment. He’s also thinking about starting a cowboy church.
In the meantime, Allen can be seen at the Fling Barn, where he will be hosting a concert event benefitting the Mike Zimmer Foundation.

Years ago, Allen developed a relationship with now-Minnesota Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer when Zimmer was the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. Mike heard Allen’s song, “God Missed Her Most” and had it played at the funeral of his wife, Vicki. To honor his wife, Zimmer started the Mike Zimmer Foundation, which aims to provide opportunities to children through various projects including scholarships and free youth football camps.
The benefit concert will take place on Aug. 27 at the Fling Barn located at 8205 W Berrysville Road in Hillsboro. During the concert, Craig will be shooting footage for the performance video of the song, “God Missed Her Most,” in which Coach Zimmer will play a cameo role.
Now you get to play a part in Allen’s “country song” story of falling for a girl, falling for her hometown and starting a new and unexpected chapter in his life.
Tickets may be purchased at www.CraigAllenCountry.org/store. Admission is $10 and will include several raffle opportunities. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and music starts at 8 p.m. Food will be available by Po Boys BBQ.
