Community invited to 'We Love Hillsboro' Family Fun Festival July 26

The Hillsboro community is invited to the first annual “We Love Hillsboro” Family Fun Festival and “Backpack Project” Kickoff hosted by Hillsboro First United Methodist Church on Friday, July 26 from 4-9 p.m.

This free community event will include an inflatable obstacle course, sumo wrestling, giant twister, carnival games and prizes, a DJ, free food, drinks provided by Anna’s Army, multiple raffle drawings, and a dunk tank featuring local “celebrities.”

Local organizations and merchants will also be featured at the event with information and local crafts and merchandise. Also, community members can pick up a voucher for free school supplies.

In addition to the fun, games and food there will be a free concert performed by Christian recording artist “My Heart Remains.”

According to their Facebook page description, “Kentucky hard rockers, My Heart Remains, are a band making a bold statement with their gritty sound and blunt message, a combination sure to turn a few heads. Most importantly though, My Heart Remains' hopes that their honest message will stomp on the toes of the comfortable and reach the people of this world that have been judged and ignored for too long, with the hope and truth of Jesus Christ.”

“This event is intended to bring the entire Hillsboro community together,” said Josh Hughes, discipleship coordinator at Hillsboro First and coordinator of the event.

“We have got a little something for everyone and the whole family will absolutely love this event. We welcome the entire community and hope to show how much ‘We Love Hillsboro.’”

With school starting soon those who attend the event will be able to pick up a voucher (one per child) for a free backpack of school supplies. The “Backpack Project” will be giving away free school supplies to those who have a voucher on August 3rd from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Robison Hall at Hillsboro First UMC.

Vouchers will be handed out at the Festival and are on a first come first serve basis. A voucher will be needed to receive a backpack on Aug. 3 – there will be no school supplies at the festival on July 26.

Everyone is welcome to this free family friendly and fun event at Hillsboro First UMC on July 26.
