PERI chapter to meet April 13
The Highland County Chapter of the Public Employees Retirees, Inc.
meeting will be on April 13 at 10 a.m. at the Hi-TEC Center, 1575 North High
Street, Hillsboro.
The speaker will be Jamie Wheeler, executive director Highland County
Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
All members and guests are welcome to attend.

Marshall Methodist Church
Easter egg hunt April 8

The Marshall Methodist Church will hold its annual Easter egg hunt
Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at the church.

Leesburg Finance Committee to meet April 19
The Leesburg Finance Committee will hold a budget meeting at 6 p.m. April 19 at the village office building.

Quilt show July 14-15
Country Quilters are planning their annual quilt show, Quilts of
Highland County, July 14-15 at Hillsboro High School, U.S. Route 62 South,

UC Health Mobile
Mammography

On April 19 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., the UC Health Mobile Mammography Van
will visit the City of Hillsboro at 126 North High Street. Mammograms can
detect abnormalities in breast tissue before more obvious symptoms are
present, and they remain the most reliable screening method for early
detection of breast cancer. As the region¹s only triple-accredited breast
cancer center, UC Health¹s highly experienced, board-certified team of
experts provide the same quality of care via the mammography van as in an
office environment.

HUBA meetings
The Hillsboro Uptown Business Association (HUBA) is a 501(c)(3)
charitable organization with a mission statement of nurturing and assisting
the growth, improvement and expansion of both existing and new businesses
and services offered in the general uptown Hillsboro area, with a main focus
of bringing merchants into uptown Hillsboro.
HUBA would like to invite anyone who has a business or is thinking about
starting a business in uptown Hillsboro to come to the group¹s regularly
scheduled meetings to ask questions that you may have, either about the
organization or about how HUBA may help you, or to learn of other
organizations that may be of service with your startup.
HUBA meetings are held at 8:30 a.m. at the Highland County
Administration Building in the basement room. The dates for the 2023
meetings are: April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10
and Nov. 14 (no meeting in December).
Events that HUBA has scheduled this year include: Egg Hunt Shop Hop,
April 1; Wine/Chocolate Walk, May 6; Picnic on High, June 3; Christmas in
July, July 1; Sidewalk Sales, Aug. 5; Fall Open House, Sept. 2; Witches
Walk, Oct. 7; Holiday Shop Hop, Nov. 4; Plaid Friday, Nov. 24; Shop Small
Saturday, Nov. 25; and Ugly Sweater, Dec. 2.
Anyone who has a business or is interested in starting a business is
welcome to join HUBA at a meeting and see what networking with this group
can do for you.

St. Paul Lutheran Church
Easter egg hunt April 8

St. Paul Lutheran Church will hold an Easter bake sale Saturday, April 8
from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The church is located at the corner of Pearl Street and
Eastern Avenue in Lynchburg. Pies, cakes, cookies, candy, dinner rolls,
jams, jellies and local honey will be available. Everyone is welcome.

Tree seedling pickup
The Highland Soil and Water Conservation Districts tree seedling orders
will be ready for pickup on Friday, April 7 (7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.).
The one-day pick-up will be held at the Liberty Township Building,
located at 95 Moore Road across from Seal-Tite. The building will only be
open during these times, so please make arrangements to pick up your trees
that day.
There are a few tree packets still available on a first-come,
first-serve basis. If you are interested in purchasing tree seedlings, stop
by the Liberty Township building Friday during the pickup times or contact
the Highland SWCD office at (937) 393-1922 ext. 3.

Lynchburg Masonic Lodge
fish fry, open house April 22

On April 22, Lynchburg Masonic Lodge will open their doors for a fish
fry and public open house. The Lodge is located at 131 S. Main Street in
Lynchburg, and it will hold this event from 4:30-7 p.m.
Anyone who would like to know more about Freemasonry or is just curious
and would like a peek inside may attend while Lodge raises money though the
fish fry. Members and their families are also invited to come share the day.
Freemasonry is the world¹s oldest and largest men¹s fraternity in the
world. Thirteen signers of the Constitution and 14 Presidents of the United
States, including George Washington, were Freemasons. Today, there are more
than 2 million Freemasons in North America alone, 90,000 of which are Ohio
Freemasons.

SATH golf outing April 24
SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped) will be hosting the
31st annual Celebrity Golf Classic Monday, April 24 at Snow Hill Country
Club in New Vienna. John and Andrea Holt of the Hillsboro Ponderosa
Steakhouse are proud to be sponsoring this event again this year. The
shotgun start for the tournament is set for 10 a.m.
The tournament will consist of 25 foursomes and one celebrity on each
team. The cost will be $200 per player or $800 per team. Individual and team
sponsors are welcome.
Each team will draw for their "Celebrity Player" at 9 a.m. the morning
of the tournament. SATH is in need of hole sponsors at $100 each. The
sponsor is given the sign autographed by each celebrity after the event.
Prizes will be given for the top three place teams. Lunch will be
served, and Pepsi will be providing the drinks for the day. A sports
memorabilia auction will take place in the afternoon after the tournament
and includes some great autographed items from the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio
State and the Cincinnati Reds. The public is welcome.

Senior food donations
The Highland County Church of Christ is giving out senior food boxes on
the third Friday of each month. These are boxes of canned and shelf-stable
items, plus cheese. To qualify, you must be age 60 or older; submit an
income form (to be filled out one time); and pick up your food box between
11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month at 6670 U.S. Route 50 West,
Hillsboro.

Fairfield open
enrollment
meeting April 12

Parents of students who are interested in enrollment at Fairfield Local
Schools for the first time under the ³Open Enrollment² policy for the
2023-24 school year are invited to attend an informal meeting to be held
Wednesday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room,
11611 state Route 771, Leesburg. The open enrollment policy will be
explained, questions answered and applications will be available.
Board policy establishes a limit for the number of students enrolled in
each grade level. Due to those limits and current enrollment, some grade
levels may have limited or no openings for the 2023-24 school year.
Applications will be accepted through June 15.
Attendance at this meeting is not required. Please contact Amy

Parents of current open enrollment students will receive an application
via email or mail.

HCCAO Board meeting dates announced
The Highland County Community Action Organization Governing Board will
meet in 2023 on the following dates: April 25, May 23, June 27, July 25,
Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 28 and Dec. 26.

Brushcreek Township
trustees' meetings

The Highland County Brushcreek Township Trustees will hold the 2023
meetings for the entire fiscal year on the first and third Thursday of each
month at 7 p.m. The meetings are open to the public and will be held at 7 N.
Chestnut Street, Sinking Spring 45172.

HDH Board meetings
The Highland District Hospital Board of Governors meetings for 2023 will
be held on the last Wednesday of each month, January-November, at 7 p.m. in
the Education Room at Highland District Hospital. Meeting schedules for
specific committees can be obtained by contacting Melinda Russell at (937)
393-6101.

Hillsboro meetings
The City of Hillsboro has issued the following meeting schedule for
2023.
• City Council meets the Thursday after the second Monday of the month
at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Courtroom.
• The Planning Commission meets the third Monday of the month at 5:30
p.m. in the old firehouse on Governor Trimble Place.
• The Revolving Loan Fund committee has quarterly meetings scheduled for
the following dates: May 17, Aug. 16 and Nov. 15. Meetings are held at the
City Building at 10 a.m.
• The Community Improvement Corporation meets the second Wednesday of
the month at 9 a.m. at the City Building.
• Meetings for the Records Commission and Civil Service Commission are
TBA.
Changes in schedule or special meetings must be published a minimum of
24 hours prior to meeting time.

Free food program
Ohio residents 60 years of age or older may be eligible for a free food
program at the Highland County Church of Christ through the Freestore
Foodbank. Qualified individuals would receive a box with dry goods, such as
rice, cereal, canned vegetables, etc., monthly. To see if you qualify,

Reformers Unanimous
Reformers Unanimous offers Christian support for all types of addiction
every Friday from 7-9 p.m. Meetings are held at Greenfield Area Christian

Peace Lutheran Church
Peace Lutheran Church continues to serve as the location for AA, NA and
AlAnon. There is also a model train group which sets up at the Highland
County Fair and has their meetings at the church. Call Peace Lutheran at

Lynchburg Historical Society
The Lynchburg Historical Society will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-2
p.m. The Society is located at 151 S. Main Street near the police office.

New Life Church & Ministries
resumes food giveaway
New Life Church & Ministries, located at 6101 S.R. 247 in Hillsboro, has
resumed its weekly food giveaway. The food pantry will be offered every
Friday from 1-4 p.m. Individuals are asked to wait until after 10 a.m. at
the absolute earliest to get in line for the food giveaways.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro
will conduct outreach sessions on the second Saturday of each month at St.
Mary Parish Hall, 119 E. Walnut St. in Hillsboro from 10 a.m.-noon.
Volunteers will be available to meet with neighbors seeking assistance on a
first-come, first-serve basis. SVdP will no longer be holding the additional
outreach day at Samaritan Outreach each month. Please bring proof of income

Soup's On program restarting at St. Mary's Episcopal Church
St. Mary's Episcopal Church is pleased to announce the restart of its
Soup's On program. The meal is free and open to all; it is meant to serve
those who are food insecure. Dinner will be served Feb. 25 beginning at 5
p.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m. St. Mary's is located at 234 North High St
Hillsboro. Dinner will be served in the Parish House, entrance located on E.
North St.
