Community baby shower a success

The Highland County Family & Children First Council Early Childhood Collaborative Council and Caresource hosted the fourth annual community-wide baby shower on Wednesday, April 22 at the Hi-TEC Building.

The baby shower was a great success, with 40 expectant moms, new moms and dads in attendance. There were 20 vendors and community agencies participating to provide pampering and information to the families of Highland County. 

Cindy Bailey from FRS Help Me Grow did a presentation from the Growing Great Kids Curriculum.

Chad Hamilton from Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District did a presentation on car seat safety and car seat checks for the families.

The organizers would like to say thank you to the agencies and vendors who participated and donated a raffle gift, and thank you to Caresource for the generous donation, allowing the shower organizers to raffle off $500 in gift cards: Highland County Health Department, Highland County FRS Help Me Grow, Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center, Kathy Decker of Massage for Your Health, Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, Highland County Alternatives to Violence Center, Highland District Hospital, Highland County Community Action Early Head Start, Christy Kerley of Paper Blooms N More, Lauren McElwee of Perfect Image Photography, Buckeye Health Plan, Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Highland County Community Action Marketplace, Highland County Community Action WIC/Breastfeeding, Caresource, Highland County Jobs and Family Services, Highland County Jobs and Family Services Children Services, Marci Snively of Thirty One Gifts, Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, Mary Furnish of Details Salon in Hillsboro, Sunrise Sunset Childcare, Southern State Patri-Tots Childcare and Heather Gibson. 
 
A cake was served from Batter Up Bakery in Leesburg and provided by the Highland County Board of DD. Food was provided by Early Head Start, along with decorations from FRS HMG.

Thanks to all who volunteered their time for the set-up and clean-up and to JFS for allowing us the use of the conference room.
