You will be green with envy if you miss CMH Regional Health System’s inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Community Health Awareness Fair at the Foster J. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center, 31 Farquhar Ave., on Thursday, March 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The public is invited to this diverse evening of health education presentations and exposure to CMH services such as home care, surgery, rehabilitation, wound treatment and dental services.
In addition to CMH, local representatives of the American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross are participating and the Wilmington-Clinton County Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its monthly business after hours.
You do not have to be a chamber member to attend. This is your one-stop opportunity to get up close and personal with some CMH physician specialists and to learn more about CMH, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross and your local chamber of commerce.
There will also be healthy (and less healthy) green foods, beverages and Irish music and tours of the cancer center, which just celebrated its fourth anniversary.
At 6 p.m. in the cancer center community room, several CMH physicians will participate in a program discussing the importance of early detection in the battle against cancer. Scheduled to participate are Dr. Michael Choo, president and chief executive officer of CMH Regional Health System, general surgeons Dr. Brian Ondulick and Dr. Tim Schirmer, internist Dr. John Hollon, medical oncologist Dr. David Kirlin, and urologist Dr. Philip Aschi.
At 6:30, well-known local berry farmer Dale Stokes will give an update on how black raspberries are being proven to prevent cancer, heart and circulatory disease and dementia.
Other CMH services to be represented include the:
· Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
· Surgery Center (which will focus on endoscopy)
· Wound Treatment Center
· Home Care Services
· Laboratory Services (which will offer personal direct lab testing)
· CMH Neurological Services
· Clinton Community Dental Services[[In-content Ad]]
