Clermont County SBDC welcomes new director
The Clermont County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has announced that Tracy Hawkins has been hired as its new director.
The SBDC program is a vital resource to Ohio's small businesses and an indispensable partner in America's economic development initiatives.
John Melvin has been the director of the Small Business Development Center for the previous 15 years and has helped an average of 4,500 small business owners in his role. Melvin will be retiring Dec. 31, 2016 and will be followed by Tracy Hawkins, an attorney in Clermont County who practiced law at her own firm for the last eight years.
“I’m very excited to start a new journey and look forward to helping small business owners across the county succeed,” Hawkins said.

An average of 300 clients a year take advantage of the services offered by the Small Business Development Center.
SBDCs engage in outreach activities designed to link programs and services to reach deep into the entrepreneurial communities and to collaborate with a wide cross-section of economic development players. SBDCs work hard to maximize and leverage available financial resources and have a resolute determination to provide support and assistance to the individual entrepreneur to ensure they have the best chance of thriving in the 21st century.
The Clermont Chamber of Commerce has hosted the SBDC program for 30 years. SBDC services are open to any for-profit entrepreneur from anywhere. Services include providing information, training and one-on-one counseling at no cost to start-up and experienced entrepreneurs.
