City of Hillsboro to host ‘Uptown Christmas’ event, Christmas parade Dec. 2-3

The City of Hillsboro is hosting two holiday events this weekend, set for Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3.
On Friday, Dec. 2 from 5-8 p.m., a tree-lighting event and other activities will be held for the “Uptown Christmas” in Hillsboro’s historic district.
Several businesses are participating in Christmas activities for kids at their shops uptown, including pictures with Santa at Merchants National Bank (see photo for complete details). The old firehouse will be also filled with activities from the City of Hillsboro and other vendors.
The city is offering free carriage rides from 5-8 p.m., and Mayor Justin Harsha will light the Christmas tree uptown at 6 p.m. The Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church Choir and Hillsboro High School Choir will be singing carols.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the annual Christmas parade will begin at 6 p.m. The theme for the parade is “Country Cowboy Christmas.”
A map of the parade route is included with the article. The parade will exit from West Fair Gate (green triangle) – continue to Fair Street onto Elm Street to Walnut, left onto East Walnut, left on South High Street, Left on Beech Street.
If the parade has not passed the point of clearance to head back to the fairgrounds, the City asks that the walkers remain in the holding area at the green space (indicated in pink triangle) until the rest of the parade has passed by to continue back to the fairgrounds (east entrance red triangle).
The walkers will exit in to the greenspace until they can safely cross Elm. All others, please use caution when heading back to fairgrounds.
