Check It Out: Summer reading program wraps up

Many thanks to all our patrons who participated in our summer reading program, Fizz, Boom, Read! this year. We had over 270 participants and hope that all who joined us for the various programs and great books had as much fun as we did.

We want to say a big “thank you” to the following individuals and businesses for their support and donations. They truly were instrumental in making this year’s program so successful: Candle-Lite, Chakeres Theaters, Cincinnati Reds, COSI, Fifth-Third Bank, Frisch’s Restaurant, Heritage Club, Highland Lanes & Alley 21, Batter Up Bakery, Becky & Jeff Johnson, Kay Simmons Insurance, Kings Island, Leesburg Hardware, Leesburg Meat and Market, Mane Street Salon, New Sabina Industries, Ohio Renaissance Festival, Saucy Sisters Pizza, Southern Hills Community Bank, Small Town Gals, Square One, Star Cinemas, Tecumseh, The Beach Waterpark and Weller’s Plumbing & Heating.

We also want to thank the following program presenters for their time and talents: Ronald McDonald, Joy Gallimore, Heidi Devine, Rollin Robinson, Dawna Jo Kiesling, Keith Aukeman and Vince Howard, as well as our “Blinded by Science” game characters (Keith Aukeman, Drew Hamilton, Matthew Leach, Sarah Duncan and Jennifer West). We had a fantastic time at all of our programs this year.

Our final event of summer reading is our Egg Drop Contest, which will be held in the parking lot on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. All registered entrants are to bring their egg and container at that time.

Our Knit Together group continues to meet on Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. Please join them regardless of your knitting expertise.

Join us for our book sale in the community room from Monday, Aug. 11 through Saturday, Aug. 16. Come and check out the bargains!

Our teen group, Sparx, will meet on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Join them for food and fun and help plan the upcoming year’s activities.

Our adult book discussion group, RRR meets on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 1:30 p.m. The book being discussed is "The Invention of Wings" by Sue Monk Kidd. New members are always welcome.

There will be no story times for Wee Ones and Tater Tots during the month of August. Our story times will resume on Thursday, Sept. 11. We hope to see new faces as well as old friends on that date. Please call us for more information regarding our story time program.
