Lead Summary

Sharon Aukeman-
We hope you will stop by to visit us at the Leesburg Library during May as we begin our preparations for another fun-filled summer reading program. Since May brings flowers, we hope our young patrons will participate in our Growing Good Readers bulletin board that will be part of our summer reading display. Kids can bring in a wallet-size picture of themselves to participate. Full details will be at the front desk.
Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. New knitters are always welcome.
Dawna Jo Kiesling from the Highland County Extension Office will be visiting us on Thursday, May 2 from 10 a.m. - noon. Stop by to chat and get some great recipes from her.
Sparx, our teen book group, will meet on Thursday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. We also have a great selection of new Young Adult books. Come and get them before they fly off the shelves, and join us for snacks and some good discussion.
Our adult book group, RRRR, will have its annual May outing. Please be at Barbara’s at 11 a.m. to carpool or meet at the Willows Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. Check with a book club member for more details.

It’s Summer Reading Time, and our theme this year is Dig into Reading. We hope all kids, teens and adults will join us on Saturday, May 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our Kick-Off Cookout. Come in and sign up for the program for your age group and have lunch on us. We’ll have hot dogs and other treats for patrons of all ages. While you’re eating your lunch, you can learn about all the programs, contests and prizes we will have for you throughout the summer. If you can’t join us on May 18, you can still sign up for the reading program throughout the summer.
Children’s story times continue on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. for Wee Ones (6-36 months) and 10:30 a.m. for Tater Tots (3-5 years). Themes for May include: Dinosaurs, Mother Goose/Mother’s Day, Dig into Reading and Let’s Go Underground. Call or stop by for more details.
We will be closed on Monday, May 27 in honor of Memorial Day and our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Please feel free to use the outdoor book drop to return items.
We are all looking forward to seeing you in May. We hope you will be as excited as we are to embark on another summer reading adventure. Join us as we explore new depths with our Underground theme and watch for details of our Thursday morning summer reading programs for kids during June and July.
