Check It Out: Leesburg Branch Library wraps up summer reading program July 25

We continue to race to the finish with our summer reading program at the Leesburg Library this month. You can still sign up to read and win prizes by stopping in at our front desk. Our programs and prize drawings will continue throughout July.

The Highland County libraries will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Please feel free to use our outdoor book drop to return items.

Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. New knitters are always welcome.

Our Thursday morning programs for kids continue. On July 7, we are hosting a “Poof Daddy” Comedy Show at 10:30 a.m. This magic/puppet/comedy show is sure to be a hit with all patrons.

Come and celebrate “We Love Homer Day” at the Leesburg Library on Thursday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m. Get your picture taken with Homer the dog and learn about pet health and wellness.

Join us for our Leesburg Library Summer Olympics on Thursday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. Come and compete for prizes and treats while performing fun Olympic events. This will be our last Thursday morning program of the summer. Our adult book group, RRR meets on the 21st as well at 1:30 p.m. New members are invited to attend.

The last day for our summer reading program for all patrons is Monday, July 25. All kids’ reading logs must be turned in and teen and adult drawing slips completed by this date.

Our SPARX teen book group will be hosting a Muggle Quidditch Tournament on Thursday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. All Leesburg area teens are invited to come and join in the fun.

We invite all library patrons to join us Saturday, July 30 to watch our “How Slow Can You Go” Parachute Contest. All registered summer readers are to report to the parking lot with their parachutes at 11 a.m. for the competition.

There will be no story times during the month of July. Join us instead for our Thursday morning programs detailed above. Our children’s story times will resume in September.
