Despite the COVID-19 pandemic putting 4-H activities on hold, members of the Highland County 4-H dog club Canine Commanders recently came together via Zoom for a club meeting.

The club includes advisors Donita Everetts, Linda Chaney and Betsy Miller, with members including Kyah and Jaya Chaney; Kaylei and Emma Sanderson; Alania Miller; and Kourtney May.

The kids in this club love their dogs and work year-round on their projects. This was their second meeting, with all the members, advisors and parents coming up with creative ways to get things done.

Before the COVID-19 crisis, a group would visit nursing homes with their canines. This of course requires a specialized training and passing a test. The club is lucky to have very active advisors leading the way.
