Beech Street Candleworks seeks votes for grant program

Beech Street Candleworks, a local candle company, has applied for a $150,000 grant from Chase as part of a newly launched program, Mission Main StreetSM Grants.
Beech Street Candleworks must submit a questionnaire outlining a business plan that will result in growth of the business and receive at least 250 votes to be eligible for a grant.
Customers, fans and community members can show support for Beech Street Candleworks by voting at https://www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/business/detail/34469 using Facebook Connect.
The voting deadline is Oct. 17, and grant recipients will be selected by expert panelists. If Beech Street Candleworks is awarded the grant, the business could grow in a much faster manner with a new building, equipment and employees to help with production and sales.
"I feel the Chase Grant would elevate our business to levels it could never go without the training Chase provides as well as the money," Beech Street Candleworks owner Sharon Bedard said. "I would be able to employ two locals, and we would like to be in a historic building in downtown Hillsboro."
The 20 grant recipients will be announced in January 2015.
