Award-winning bluegrass artists appearing at Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival in Wilmington

The Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival presented by Rue Farms Rustic Potato Chips is bringing award-winning bluegrass artists to the Roberts Convention Centre in Wilmington Friday, Nov. 9, and Saturday, Nov. 10.
The annual International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) World of Bluegrass convention and awards wrapped up the last week of September in Raleigh, N.C., and the Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival is excited to be welcoming some of the 2018 award recipients to our Wilmington stage next month.

“Exciting new talent and a double Hall of Famer will ensure another memorable weekend at the Roberts Centre. Many favorites are returning, including 11-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland, who is also a 2018 inductee to the National Fiddler’s Hall of Fame,” festival producer Joe Mullins said.
“Speaking of awards, Kristin Scott Benson will be at our event with the Grascals. She has had a wild and crazy year, winning the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. For the first time in a few years, Darin and Brooke Aldridge will join us, and Brooke just won her second Female Vocalist of the Year Award from the IBMA.
“For the first time, we welcome Bradley Walker,” Mullins continued. “I refer to my friend Bradley as one of the most inspiring vocalists in all of bluegrass, gospel and country music. His lifelong battle with muscular dystrophy has never stopped him from producing fantastic music, including back-to-back hit gospel albums for Gaither Music.
“Paul Williams has been a longtime favorite with our audiences. He entered the Bluegrass Hall of Fame years ago as a member of the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers, but I enjoyed the privilege of inducting Paul into the Hall of Fame singularly, as a singer, songwriter and mandolin artist in September. He will join the Radio Ramblers for a Friday night set and be our special guest for a Saturday morning breakfast event. The Ramblers will be servers from 10:30 a.m. until noon, singing or picking for tips and raising support for the IBMA Bluegrass Trust Fund, with oinly a $10 donation for food and fellowship benefitting the bluegrass community worldwide.”
Other 2018 IBMA Award winners who will be appearing include:
• Special Consensus: Album of the Year - Rivers & Roads; Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year - "Squirrel Hunters.”
• Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers: Song of the Year - "If I’d Have Wrote That Song.”
• Jerry Salley: Songwriter of the Year.
• Carolina Blue: Carolina Blue’s fiddle player, Aynsley Porchak, won IBMA's Momentum Award for Musician of the Year.
Guests will also enjoy performances by The Garrett Newton Band; Larry Cordle & Carl Jackson; Flatt Lonesome; and Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road.
The Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival is a biannual acoustic music event that occurs each March and November. This event is an excellent family-friendly entertainment value.
In addition to two full days of top talent, there will be a Jam Session Central area for pickers, and everyone will have an opportunity enter to win door prizes as well as wonderful raffle prizes, including a Deering Goodtime banjo and Morgan Monroe mandolin. An instrument check, food and various vendors offer value-added extras to all attendees in a smoke- and alcohol-free environment. Guests will enjoy shopping for everything from instruments and musicians accessories to jewelry.
The Roberts Centre also includes a Holiday Inn hotel, Max and Erma’s Restaurant and RV parking adding to the comfort and convenience of the attendees. Located 12 miles south of Xenia, five miles north of Wilmington at the intersection of US 68 and I-71, Exit 50, the Roberts Centre is convenient to fans from all over Ohio and neighboring states. This accessible location is less than an hour drive from Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus.
Advance ticket sales are available through Nov. 8. General admission passes are $35 for one day or $65 for two days. Ticket sales resume at the door during the festival at 10 a.m. daily for $5 more.
