On Friday, May 9, visitors to the uptown Hillsboro area will see that a local army unit will be conducting maneuvers near the Highland County Courthouse.

It is not the U.S. Army, but another force that is working to make a difference in our community, Anna’s Army.

Anna’s Army officers will set up camp at 11 a.m., and will be selling food to recruits and the general public from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Several local restaurants have donated food for the event.

The Ohio Cobra Club will be in attendance selling raffle tickets on a replica Shelby Cobra, and local race teams Vernon Angles and Rick Wilkin will have their race cars on display, along with cars and motorcycles from area enthusiasts.

Dance demonstrations will be performed by Inspire and Noreen’s Dance, and a Cross Fit demo will be given by West Hillsboro Cross Fit.

Later in the afternoon there will be inflatable blow up bounce houses and other activities for the kids.

Additional training activities of the Army will be a fundraising walkathon which will begin at 5:45 after the National Anthem and prayer.

There will be a live auction starting at 6 p.m. with items that have been donated for the cause.

Anna’s Army representative Justin Reno says that there will be a lot of activities throughout the day, there will be new design T-shirts and other gear available for sale. He is excited about this annual event and looks forward to seeing everyone.

Anna’s Army is a non-profit organization named for Anna Reno, a beautiful young local girl who fought a terrible battle with Cystic Fibrosis. They work to create awareness and to raise money for a cure for this terrible disease.

Anna’s Army continues in her memory, and has grown stronger each year, and they have raised over $200,000 to help find a cure for CF.
