Organizers arrived several hours early to set up for Anna's Army Day, held on the courthouse lawn April 16. A cookout was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with a walk starting at 5 p.m. T-shirts, gift baskets, plants, and other items were being sold. The event was organized to support Anna's Army, a local organization dedicated to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis in memory of Anna Reno, a Hillsboro Elementary student with the disease. Anna passed away in March 2009 at age 8.

Modern Woodmen of America helped fund the event and provided grills for the cookout. Several local and national representatives attended the event, including John Manna, National Fraternal Activities Manager, who traveled from Omaha to support Anna's Army.

Andi Reno, Anna's mother, said that she was pleased with the turnout and hopes that people continue to attend throughout the day.[[In-content Ad]]
