Amie Griffith earns state 4-H Scholarships

Amie Griffith received two State 4-H Scholarships totaling $2,700 as a result of her hard work and dedication to the Highland County 4-H Program.

The scholarships were presented at a banquet held at the Nationwide and Farm Bureau 4-H Center on the OSU campus in Columbus.

The Bea Cleveland and Alga Weaver Scholarships are awarded to 4-H members who plan to attend OSU in the fall as a freshman and major in an area of Human Ecology. Amie is a 2013 HHS graduate and a freshman at OSU majoring in Fashion & Retail Studies with a business minor.

Amie is currently a member of OSU Collegiate 4-H, OSU Fashion Production Association, and a member of the OSU TOMS Campus Club. In September, Amie volunteered at the 2013 Columbus Fashion Week production.

Amie will be showcasing designs in April for the OSU Fashion Production Association fashion show, Incrementa.

Recently, Amie has been offered an internship with OSU’s Global Gallery, “a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Fair Trade goods while developing cultural education through workshops and social events. Global Gallery is committed to alleviating poverty through social entrepreneurship and cultural connections.”

Amie and Kathy Bruynis, 4-H Youth Development Educator will be conducting a 4-H Scholarship Workshop for 4-H members and families on Thursday, December 11, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the 4-H food booth at the Highland County Fairgrounds.

This workshop is for all ages and will focus on how to collect, record, and communicate 4-H achievements on local and state 4-H scholarship applications. To RSVP or for more information please call 937-393-1918.
