Altrusa literacy projects under way

Members of Altrusa are shown getting books ready for all kindergarteners of Highland County at their last meeting.

Altrusa and the Hillsboro area branch of the American Association of University Women are preparing for the annual Book Sale.

Barrels for the collection of gently used books have been placed in the Leesburg, Greenfield, Lynchburg and Hillsboro libraries, Kroger, Community Markets and the YMCA.

The book sale will be held at the Highland County Administration Building in Hillsboro on Thursday, Nov. 6 from noon until 6 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Money raised will provide scholarships and support literary projects for Highland County residents.
