Adopt love at Fayette Humane Society
The Fayette Humane Society has two events going on in the month of February. One of those is 'Adopt Love', a special adoption event with reduced fees for the cats and kittens. Adopting from a humane society gives a lifetime of love.
“Cats are wonderful companions, and all our adoptable kitties have been health and personality checked, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, dewormed, treated for fleas and microchipped.” explained Dr. Lee Schrader, executive director. “All these wonderful kitties need now is their perfect home.”
There are currently 34 cats and kittens housed at the FHS Adoption and Business Center, located in downtown Washington Court House. This means there is a large variety of personalities where adopters can meet their forever match.
“These orphans need someone to care for them and most importantly, they need love.” said Nikki Hagler, adoption coordinator. “They were lucky enough to be rescued and brought to our humane society, now we need to find them a forever home. We would like to help more kitties in need, and with the help of the community, we can do so.”
The second event is the first-ever ‘Have a Heart, Share a Heart’ fundraiser. Those who can’t adopt love this month but wish to share their love, can send a valentine to the animals at the Adoption and Business Center.
“Extra love is in the air this month and what better way to share it by becoming a valentine to our animals?” said Brad Adams, outreach director.
Those who love animals may purchase a red heart for only $5 or give a heart of gold for $10. The red or gold heart will be displayed with the person’s name on it at the adoption and business center, social media and on the FHS website.
A heart may also be given in the memory of or in honor of a special someone or a pet.

The Fayette Humane Society is a non-profit (501(c)(3), volunteer organization. They receive less than 2% of their support from governmental organizations and therefore must rely on donations, grants and fundraising to carry out their mission. The Humane Society is the only organization in Fayette County able to respond to calls about abused and neglected and domestic animals, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
