AAARC program to honor Reverend Wendell Harewood, scholarship recipients

The African American Awareness Research Council and the Highland County District Library will present a Black History program honoring Reverend Wendell Harewood and the 2020-21 AAARC Scholarship recipients on Saturday, June 19, with guest speaker Dr. Craig McKinney.
Dr. McKinney is from Cleveland Heights, Ohio and has been a surgeon at the Highland District Hospital since 2018.
Rev. Harewood is a lifelong resident of Highland County. He graduated from Hillsboro High School, served as postmaster of the Hillsboro Post Office from 1979-99 and also served on the Highland District Hospital Board of Governors and Highland County Housing and Senior Citizens Board. He is also a retired presiding elder of AME Church.
The program will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene beginning at 1 p.m. A Zoom link will provided on the HCDL Facebook page, and those attending in-person are encouraged to wear a face mask if not vaccinated.
The AAARC would like to thank all the donors who made these scholarships possible and thank the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene for allowing the use of their building.
