2016 Color Hop 5k in Mowrystown benefits GoHaiti Mission Team

One hundred and twenty runners and walkers gathered on a chilly morning in Mowrystown on March 26 for the first Color Hop 5k for Haiti.

The event was a non-timed 5k, benefitting the GoHaiti Mission Team for their upcoming mission trip in September.

The run began and ended at Living Springs Community Church. The event was so popular that many of the participants are already looking forward to joining the cause in 2017! Whiteoak View Farm received an award for the largest team and the team that traveled the farthest came from Troy, Ohio.

Angie Jean Claude, co-founder of GoHaiti, was pleased to see such a great turnout for the first 5k and wishes to thank all of the volunteers and participants who made it such a success.

Sponsors for the event included Living Springs Community Church, Greystone Systems Inc., Georgetown Office Supply, Dr. Leah McConnaughey and Dr. Khris Ballard, DeClaire Insurance, Brown County Motors, and a sponsor in memory of Mary Lou and Brenda.

The GoHaiti Team also wishes to recognize the Village of Mowrystown Council, the Mowrystown Police Department and the Southern Highland Joint Fire District and EMS Services for providing protection and support for the great day of fun.

Participants also helped the team by bringing gently worn shoes for the GoHaiti shoe drive.
