$10K prize possible at SOS golf scramble
Golfers will have a chance to win $10,000 during Samaritan Outreach Services' golf outing on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The nonprofit organization will hold its third annual “Drive Against Hunger” golf scramble at the Valley Vista Golf Course in Bainbridge, and any participant who makes a hole-in-one at Hole No. 14 will win $10,000. Samaritan Outreach has teamed with insurance company Hole-In-One International to offer the $10,000 hole-in-one prize.
"We’ve had so much fun at the golf scramble in the past and have raised some much-needed funds for the food pantry,” Samaritan Outreach executive director Wade Hamilton said. “Scott and the team at Valley Vista have really gone out of their way to make this event successful.

“We’ve definitely had some excitement here over the past two years as well. We’ve had three different golfers get within a foot of the cup on the prize hole to win the $10,000. We’re hoping this is the year.”
The cost is $200 for a team of four or $50 for an individual to register. Breakfast and lunch are included. Everyone registered will receive a free club, and there will be skill prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

Samaritan Outreach, formed in 1989 by the Rev. John and Jean Carson, operates as a charity food pantry in the Highland County area funded primarily by community grants and private donations. Eligibility for services falls within the guidelines of federal income levels.
