Shirley Ann Newland

Shirley Ann Newland, 84, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 at Clinton Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 25, 1939 in Meigs County, the daughter of the late Ernest and Eileen Lenora (Gardner) Halley.

Shirley moved to the area from Meigs County when she was young. Her favorite way to spend her time was taking care of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing card games, especially euchre, gin rummy and war. Shirley loved to play bingo, and the family would like to extend special thanks to Penny Duncan for picking Shirley up and taking her to bingo.

Shirley is survived by her children, William “Bill” (Kathy) Ahsaruk of Highland and Tracie (Sean Smith) Ahsaruk of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Latasha Ahsaruk, Justin Ahsaruk, Sonya Taylor, Philip French, Cassidy Nope, Christian Foreman, Gary Duncan, Cory Duncan, Kody Kerns, Dalton Kerns and Michael Crone II; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rita (Steve) Little, Janice (George) Wardlow and Gene (Connie) Halley; son-in-law, Chris Cloyd; special friend, Raymond Allen; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Ahsaruk and Donald Newland; daughters, Patricia Dischner, Linda Cloyd and Carrie Ahsaruk; sister, Linda (Merland) Mitchell; and son-in-law, Paul Dischner.

Visitation for Shirley will take place Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Methodist Cemetery. Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
