Retired Highland County K-9 Django passes away

Retired Highland County Sheriff’s K-9 Django has reportedly passed away, according to a post by the Ohio Police K9 Memorial Facebook page.

“K9 Django, a 9-year-old German shepherd, passed away July 3 after a short battle with cancer,” the post says. “Django retired in January 2019 and resided with his handler, Sergeant Craig Seaman and his family, [who] miss him terribly."

When Django retired in 2019, Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera said that Django had “constantly” trained with Sgt. Seaman throughout his tenure with the sheriff's office.

“[Django] did tracking, drugs, article searches,” Barrera told Highland County commissioners in January 2019. “There were several things that he was trained to do. Since October 31, 2014, the sheriff’s office had a total of 96 combined uses.”
