Plinny D. Blair Jr.

Plinny D. Blair Jr., 92, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2023. 

Plinny was born March 05, 1931, in Brush Creek Township in Highland County, the son of the late Plinny D. Blair, Sr. and Hazel L. (Yarger) Blair. 

Plinny's dad, Plinny Blair Sr., went to work for Burt England, who owned a plumbing business in Hillsboro. In 1931, he bought the business from Mr. England. Plinny Jr. went to work for his father in 1945. During the Korean War, Plinny enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country. After returning from his enlistment in the military, Plinny returned to Hillsboro, working in the family plumbing business until his retirement in 1993, which at that time his son, David, the third generation, would continue Blair Plumbing and today has served the Hillsboro Community for 92 years. Plinny also owned the Blair Modern Trailer Court in Hillsboro from 1989-2018. 

Plinny is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beulah (Grabill) Blair, whom he married Dec. 9, 1956; two sons, David (Angie) Blair of Hillsboro and Timothy (Julie) Blair of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Haley (James) Stangle of Chiilicothe and Samantha Jo Blair of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Alice Blair of Hillsboro; brother-in-law, Elbert Graybill of Miamisburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends. 

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amber Blair; two brothers, John D. Blair and Daniel Lee Blair; and two sisters, Barbara Jane Adams and Nancy Wyckoff. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. 

Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard. 

Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 

Family requests memorials to the Rainsboro Church of Christ, where Plinny attended.
