CHILLICOTHE — It wasn't their best outing of the season, but the McClain Tigers did score a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but the host Chillicothe Cavaliers eventually defeated the Tigers, 70-7 Friday night at Herrnstein Field.

The Cavaliers scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters to build a 42-0 halftime lead, and by the time the third quarter ended, the Cavs led by 56 points.

McClain (0-4, 0-7) broke the shutout with a 43-yard sweep by Alex Hollar to start the fourth quarter, on a third-and-3 play. Camden Yates kicked the PAT to give the Tigers their seven points.

Hollar led MHS with 94 yards on 26 carries.

"Chillicothe is pretty good, and we just didn't play very well tonight," MHS head coach Jeremey Andrews said. “Usually I try to stay positive about our team and their effort, but (Friday) there wasn't a whole lot to be positive about.

"I don't think our effort (Friday) was what it has been. It is now a challenge to our seniors as to what kind of legacy they want to leave here."

CHS scored 14 points in the final quarter. Leading the Cavaliers was Nate Rosenbauer with 11 carries for 174 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. In all, the Cavs totaled 511 yards of offense (346 yards rushing), with 363 of those yards in the first two quarters.

The Tigers did have one drive that almost produced points in the first half. MHS trailed 35-0, and after a 25-plus yard completion to Randall Mischal, the Tigers were at the CHS 26-yard line, but the drive ended with an interception with 3:17 left in the first half.

The Cavs' quarterback Jack Busch finished 3-of-4 for 83 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, and backup quarterback Branden Maughmer was a perfect 4-of-4 for 82 yards and two touchdowns in the second half.

McClain ended the night with 191 yards of offense, with 138 yards coming on 46 carries. Tristan Pitzer finished with 54 yards passing on two completions.

The final three games of the season for McClain are all at home, with MHS hosting the Washington Blue Lions next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
